Long-Text Typing Practice
Last updated: 2026-06-25
Long-text typing practice has you type a full paragraph from start to finish to train endurance and a typing speed (WPM) and accuracy that stay consistent all the way to the end.
A progress bar and live WPM and accuracy show as you type, and finishing the passage gives your final average speed and elapsed time.

Results are reference figures that can vary with the passage difficulty and how speed is measured. Use them for fun.
How to Use
- Choose a passage — Pick an English or Korean long passage, or get a new one with the New Passage button.
- Start typing — Type the first character to start the timer and fill the progress bar.
- Finish the passage — Type the passage to the end and your average WPM, accuracy, and elapsed time are shown.
Building Endurance with Long-Text Typing
Short-sentence drills are great for raising burst speed, but when you write documents, reports, and emails for real work, the ability to type long text at a steady pace all the way through matters more. Long-text typing practice builds focus and hand endurance together, reducing the drop in speed and the rise in typos that tend to happen near the end.
| Stage | What to focus on |
|---|---|
| Start (0–30%) | Don't begin too fast; settle into a steady rhythm |
| Middle (30–70%) | Keep breathing and hold the same pace without breaks |
| End (70–100%) | Relax your wrists and shoulders and focus on accuracy |
| After finishing | Check how your late-stage accuracy changed, not just your speed |
WPM = (keystrokes ÷ 5) ÷ elapsed minutes; for Korean, a syllable converts to 2 keystrokes without a final consonant and 3 with one. To measure precise burst speed on short sentences, use the typing speed test; to build the fundamentals, try typing practice; and for a structured improvement plan, see the How to Type Faster guide.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why practice long-text typing?
Short sentences only measure burst speed, while a long passage trains focus and endurance together. It is effective for building the consistent speed and accuracy you need when typing long text such as documents, reports, and chats.
Does my speed drop on long text?
Usually the longer the text, the more fatigue slows the back half. Long-text typing practice builds your ability to hold a steady rhythm and reduces that late slowdown. At first, focus on typing consistently to the end rather than on speed.
What does the progress bar show?
The progress bar shows how much of the whole passage you have typed so far. When it reaches 100%, the passage is complete and your final result is shown.
How is typing speed calculated?
WPM is your keystrokes divided by five and then by the elapsed minutes. English characters count as one keystroke; Korean syllables convert to 2 keystrokes without a final consonant and 3 with one before the calculation.
Is what I type saved?
No. All practice runs only in your browser, and what you type and your results are never sent to or stored on a server. Refreshing the page clears your results.
